Austin Alegria

Austin Alegria is a fashion and jewelry designer who specializes in hand-crafted pieces with an edge. The South Texas-raised, Mississippi-born UIW alum has worked with Robert Mitchell in fashion show production and has worked with retailers like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Dillards and Julian Gold.  Alegria also had the opportunity to work and assist Carolina Herrera for fashion show in San Antonio, TX and as an assistant to Sheila Masterson for Fashion Group International producing shows and hosting events while working with local artists.

Gender Thieves is a gender-neutral street & casual wear fashion company; Changing ‘Traditional Standards’ one garment at a time.
Wearing both the masculine & feminine preferences unapologetically, Gender Thieves believes that every person should have the freedom to choose the best garments that fits their personality, to express themselves relentlessly and unapologetic. They break the walls built on tradition to  create new ones. They believe that style is an extension of your inner self, so why not express it? It’s all about the balance of the masculine and feminine into one element.

Our vision is to distribute unparalleled merchandise worldwide and to send a message that people in all parts of the world are rare. They have hosted events for Los Angeles Fashion Week, and have been featured on British GQ three times. When he is not in San Antonio, he is traveling the nation with his brand and continuously seeks new ways to innovate the industry.

Furthering the CFDA’s mission to strengthen the impact of American fashion in a global economy, CFDA Connects was created to skill share and connect domestic markets to the pulse of the American and global fashion industries through CFDA resources. This includes professional and business development, education, trade events, supply chain/local manufacturing, social impact, and sustainability. CFDA Connects officially launched this past April with ten select regional organizations across the U.S. gaining its support, with the Texas Fashion Industry Initiative serving as its founding member and its program, TEXAS FASHION WEEK™, serving as the resource the CFDA will use to discover new Texas talent.
